SPC Clements joined the Army in 1989, and proudly served the
next 4 years during the Gulf War. SPC Clements was assigned
to 1st Cavalry Division in Ft Wood. The 1st Cavalry fought
as a heavy artillery division. During Operation Desert
Storm, the 1st Battalion, 5th Cavalry, was crucial in the
movement of ground forces to the Kuwaiti and west Saudi
Arabian theaters by making two assaults into Iraqi held
territory and moving north drawing Iraqi divisions out of
Kuwait to support the Iraqi units defending in Iraq. SPC
Clements received Army Commendation Medal for his
distinguished heroism and meritorious service. Also,
National Defense Service Medal (NDSM), the Saudi Liberation
Medal for service performed in support of Operation Desert
Storm as well as the Kuwait Liberation Medal. SPC Clements
received a medical discharge for injuries received as a
result of performing his duties firing heavy artillery.
